Released to Media Today: TEXPAC and McLennan County Medical Society Physicians Endorse Congressman Bill Flores

Waco (TX)—TEXPAC, the political advocacy arm of the Texas Medical Association and the McLennan County Medical Society announced the endorsement of Representative Bill Flores this week in his bid for reelection to Texas’ 17th congressional district, which he has served since 2011.

“McLennan County physicians know that this election affects our ability to provide the best and most compassionate health care to our citizens and Congressman Flores will continue to stand strong in Washington for the interests of both patients and physicians,” said McLennan County Medical Society President, Tim Martindale, MD.  “He used his leadership to help fix the SGR formula that caused constant Medicare payment crises, ensuring better access to care for patients.”

Representing almost 500 physicians, the McLennan County Medical Society leadership chose to endorse Representative Flores based on his support of the SGR fix and his understanding that government red tape only interferes with the patient-physician relationship and does not create better care.  “He has made the effort to learn the issues that are important to medicine and he understands that physicians are small businessmen and women and should be treated as such in their practices,” said Dr. Martindale.  “The physicians of McLennan County encourage our colleagues, patients and all citizens to reelect Congressman Bill Flores.”

Rep. Flores has also been endorsed by the Texas Medical Association, representing over 48,000 physicians within the state.
