The Family Health Center received the first-ever H. Jack Geiger Award from the National Center for Health in Public Housing on July 13, 2011. This award is given “For Outstanding Service in Performance Improvement”, represented by the Family Health Center’s efforts to increase and enhance services for patients living in public housing, most recently evidenced by the opening of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Clinic just a few blocks away from Waco’s largest public housing complex, Estella Maxey Place. Allen Patterson, Chief Financial and Operating Officer and Annette Ballew, Controller, accepted the award in Washington D.C. at the Public Housing and Primary Care Conference. The Family Health Center treats about 95 percent of the county’s indigent health care clients.
