Waco Family Physician Receives National Honor From American Academy of Family Physicians

William T. McCunniff, MD, MBA, a family medicine physician at the Family Health Center in Waco, was awarded the 2014 Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education by the American Academy of Family Physicians at its annual meeting in Washington, DC. The AAFP’s Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education recognizes outstanding family medicine residents for their leadership, civic involvement, exemplary patient care and aptitude for and interest in family medicine. The AAFP’s Annual Assembly, one of the largest gatherings of primary care providers in the country, was held October 21-25, 2014.

Dr. McCunniff graduated magna cum laude from Baylor University and received an MBA from Texas Tech Rawl’s College of Business Administration. He completed medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and is currently Chief Resident in his third year at the Waco Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. McCunniff serves on the board of the McLennan County Medical Society and plans to join the Baylor Scott and White at Hillcrest Midway Clinic upon graduation in June 2015.
